1. What inspired you to write your book?

There is more to raising a child than ticking developmental boxes.

I was inspired to write this book in response to the decades of working with children and their families and witnessing firsthand that children are growing up in systems not necessarily designed for their brilliance.

This book is a response to the crisis our youth are experiencing in terms of loneliness, disconnection, burnout, and mental health issues.

It shares a multidimensional lens for raising humans beyond classrooms and therapy rooms, combining clinical experience, spiritual wisdom, intuitive insight, and embodied parenting.

Ultimately, it is a practical companion to help us remember and return to the power of what it really means to be a flourishing human.

2. How did your writing process go?

The writing of this book was an intense 2-month process. The framework of the book I had mapped out a few years prior.

I would begin writing early in the morning, sometimes as early as 3 am. Then would write until 6 am or so to get the kids' school lunches ready and go for a walk.

From there, depending on the day of the week, I would write solidly around client appointments and family commitments. Yes, that included writing in the car whilst waiting for my kids' sports training to finish!

3. Do you have any strange writing habits?

I wouldn't call them strange :-)

I tend to write intuitively (allow myself to be led to what chapter/s to write on any particular day).

I always like a cup of herbal tea or hot water to sip on, and drink it from my rainbow unicorn mug.

I break up long sessions of writing with movement and/or nature (skipping/ walking/ dancing/ tending to my plants).

4. What is your favourite quote?

From my book...

"Our children don't need to inherit our outdated patterns. They can inherit our liberation."

5. Is this your only book or are you working on more?

This is my fourth book. My first two books are bestselling children's picture books (Reece Give Me Some Peace, 2018, & Kisses in Your Heart, 2019).

My third award-winning book was out in 2021, Flourish for Mums 21 Ways to Thrive with Self-Care and Acceptance.

I am currently developing transformational children's IP, part of which includes an early chapter book series. I have drafted the first three books so far.

6. What surprised you most on the writing journey?

The incredible depth of personal growth in such a short time.

7. What got left out of the final draft?

Oh gosh, not much. I remember swapping out two chapters I had originally planned in the framework, but can't remember which ones they were!

8. If you could tell your younger self anything what would it be?

I love you fully and completely. There is nothing you can do or say that will change that. SO - receive my love with grace and rest in it peacefully.

9. Is there anything else you would like to share?

You can't delegate your inner work!

We all play a role in parenting our own evolution, so embrace it with playfulness, kindness, forgiveness, and compassion for yourself and others.
